Science Publique is an association under the French law of 1901.
Our mission
Science Publique’s mission is to promote and encourage the media integration of scientific thought, its related knowledge-building methods, standards, expectations and conclusions, as well as the members of the scientific community itself.
This mission aims to stem a number of crises that threaten the integrity of our societies, both politically and materially.
A crisis of truth
At a time when, more than ever, we need to agree on a common body of knowledge in order to take collective responsibility for the social and ecological issues of our time, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to do so.
Indeed, our media spaces seem to have become territories to be conquered by different actors, far removed from the spaces of freedom, conducive to serene and informed discussion and debate that they could be.
A crisis of individual autonomy
It’s becoming increasingly difficult for most of us to build up reliable knowledge on our own, especially when it’s interpretative and not just factual. What’s more, it’s no less difficult for us to master the often opaque flows of information that reach us.
A crisis of our collective autonomy
We are all stakeholders in a society whose configuration and direction we do not control, even at high levels of responsibility.
We are convinced that this state of affairs is not inevitable, but is attributable in particular to a lack of available space and easily accessible and mobilizable resources, to a lack of capacity for collective management of uncertainty (and in particular to an inability to value uncertain knowledge), and to structural difficulties in asserting critical alternatives to the various immediately available certainties, stemming from various media dogmatisms.
To help solve these various problems that affect us all, we propose to give science and those involved in it a more prominent place in our media spaces, by making it easily accessible :
Scientific perspective on the most mediatized speeches;
Scientific knowledge, both factual and methodological (know-how);
Scientific truth regime.
And it is with this goal in mind that we’re currently developing fields.
